I have been a Trial Management Group member for three completed international randomised controlled trials (ROCSS, FALCON, CHEETAH).
I am now co-leading DRAGON (Multicentre non-inferiority cluster randomised trial testing Disposable versus Reusable drApes and Gowns for green OperatiNg theatres) which will recruit 26,800 patients across 134 hospitals in the UK and seven low- and middle-income countries. As far as I am aware, DRAGON will be the largest-ever surgical RCT.
I have 12-years of experience leading large-scale prospective, multicentre cohort studies, ranging from the UK to global.
I led the GlobalSurg-CovidSurg Week study, the largest-ever prospective study in surgery, capturing 141,582 patients across 1,667 hospitals in 116 countries. I was awarded a Guinness World Record for “most authors on a single peer-reviewed academic paper” (15,025 authors) for the resulting publication. This was also highlighted as a case study demonstrating UK leadership in science in the UK Government’s Global Health Framework.
Other methodologies I utilise include:
Health estimates modelling studies
Health policy modelling
Evidence synthesis (systematic review, meta-analysis)
Health economics
Carbon modelling
